Blue Juice Comics LogoAccelerators! Mount up! The 90’s rap hit by Warren G…wait…that’s not right. The Accelerators is a time traveling adventure comic book created by Ronnie Porto with art by Gavin Smith, and published by Tom Mumme of Blue Juice Comics!

In the Accelerator universe time travel has been discovered, but it only grants the ability to go to the future. What happens when the central characters arrive in a future where time travel has become so commonplace that it has ruined society? That’s the theme that the series looks to dive into, and issue one teases just enough to get you hooked.

Issue #1 starts with an intense coliseum fight scene that matches warriors plucked from time in duels to the death, then quickly hops to the past to introduce us to our three main characters. Lex, a scientist, is being chased through time by her husband Captain Bertram, a military type who’s on a mission to stop her. The third player is a kid who’s mistakenly pulled into the chase when he attempts to push Lex out of the way of an oncoming car! After a few quick jumps that follow the Fibonacci Sequence our reluctant adventurers find themselves in a world where the educated and able have jumped forward in time to leave only the worst of humanity behind.

Accelerators #1Having read this book I can say without a doubt, people are going to dig it. In fact, I could see this book turned live action…here’s hoping! Porto delivers a compelling story and Smith illustrates it brilliantly! Whether you have an affinity for time travelling stories or not, you’ll find plenty of sweet nuggets of fun for just about anyone. There’s a battle royale starring the likes of colonial soldiers, cavemen, pirates, and medieval knights to name a few. A married couple at ideological odds, with one trying to possibly kill the other. TIME DONUTS. Need I say more? Yes? Okay fine…a Mayan impales a college professor! Just try and resist that!

Now that I’ve gotten you all hyped up for this wild ride, I bet you’re wondering where to get a copy. Well, Accelerators issue #1 has just been accepted by Diamond for the March Previews Catalog! This means that you need to tell your local comic shop to pre-order this puppy and put it in your pull-file the next time you visit them. As cool as any comic may sound, it’s ultimate success and the life of the series counts on it, so don’t let it slip through the cracks!

If you’d like to see more about this issue, head over to the Blue Juice Comics website to see a preview and other behind the scenes information!
