SMCcast Chase Variant PodcastEpisode #3 of our Chase Variant podcast features what has become our standard format with quick reviews on Damage Control, Jennifer Blood, and Red Lanterns. We move on to a discussion of one of our blog articles about golden age war propaganda in comics. This leads us to an interesting discussion on the impact comics may have on children. Then I attempt to host our trivia for the night.

I want to comment a statement made in the podcast basically saying: “In Germany its forbidden to print Nazi Symbols because they want to let it be forgotten what happened in the past, and therefore it could happen again”.
As a german resident I have to strongly disagree to this. It’s forbidden to print nazi symbols on T-Shirts for example so that some groups that still exist cant use it for their purpose. The least thing that happens in Germany is that you can forget what happened 70 years ago. Nearly every day on some TV stations there are documentations about the third reich, the movie industry do lots of movies about it and in school you learn EVERYTHING about this period of time. Comics like “MAUS” from Art Spiegelman are published here and are successful!
I can tell you that Germany is very critical about their history.
