Let’s start off this time with user reviews from the forums.

Axe Cop coverAbout Axe Cop, ChipReece says:

Ethan Nicolle (Age 30) does the artwork based on characters, situations, and settings created by his 6 year old brother Malachai Nicolle. The way this is formulated is through imaginative playtime.  Ethan then interprets the stories and adventures they have through the comic medium. Their stories had become so popular that eventually Dark Horse got wind of them and published their first work in comic book form!

This mini-series puts Axe Cop and his partners Dinosaur Soldier, and a T-Rex with gatling gun arms in an adventure where they must stop the “psychic brothers” from turning everyone on Earth into bad guys. This sounds like a pretty simple plot, and it is, but I’m telling you the ride is the thing in this series.  There are so many laugh out loud moments you will be yearning for the next issue.  If you want a taste of what I’m talking about go here for a preview.

If you can find this series, I encourage you to pick it up.  I give it a 10 for pure fun and…umm…winning.  Oh, and the art is fabulous too.

About X-Men #140 AvengersFan223 says:

xmen 140I recently sat down to read Uncanny X-men #140, and my initial reaction was that i loved it. In this issue, the main setting is Canada, where Nightcrawler is aiding Wolverine in his resignation from the Canadian Secret service. While there they meet Alpha Flight and help them defeat Wendigo, a powerful almost indestructible beast who captures and eats humans. John Byrne did a beautiful job on the art. It is detailed and the inks are amazing, giving the art life and mood. The story of course was great! Just like most of Claremont’s work. I did read it in one sitting because I could not put it down! I wanted to keep finding out what happened next.  I think any one could read this issue in particular because it gives you everything you need to know about the characters. (It even gives a part of the origin of wolverine.) I was blown away by this book!

Here is a review capsule of my own:

I Kill Giants – Image Comics:

I Kill Giants by Joe Kelly tells the story of a young girl – Barbara – who’s got an attitude in school and is always getting in trouble. Her family life is in shambles because of something going on upstairs in the house. We don’t know until the end what that family crisis is. But Barbara claims that she is a giant killer. She reads a lot of D&D books to prepare for giant fights and sets traps by the beach. She eventually garners the attention of a bully and a new girl in school. The new girl wants to be Barbara’s friend and the bully, well, she bullies Barbara. But Barbara has a heart shaped purse which she claims contains an enchanted war hammer. Is the magical hammer real? Does Barbara truly battle giants? Well, you’ll have to read it. Seriously, I don’t see how anyone with a soul could not love this book. It broke my heart and inspired me. One of the best books I ever read.
