Teen Wolf LogoLydia hosts her birthday party, which just so happens to fall on the night of the full moon. Meanwhile Derek tries to control his betas and the Argents deal with their own werewolf problem. There’s a lot to discuss in this week’s episode.

At the party, Lydia (who was more than likely under Peter’s influence) spiked the punch with wolfsbane causing everyone to hallucinate. I believe there’s a lot of significance to what they see.

Scott sees Jackson and Allison making out in his hallucination. Last episode Scott questions Allison faith in him so his hallucination reflects his fear of losing Allison’s trust and seeing her on the side of the enemy, not necessarily losing her to Jackson.

Matt and the KanimaAllison is confronted by a stronger, more powerful version of herself that calls her weak and shoots her with an arrow. Back in season one, Allison vowed to become stronger because she hated how helpless she was feeling. We’ve seen her skills as a hunter and her prowess as a leader grow, but Allison isn’t sure what side she should be on. She feels her indecision makes her weak and she’s going to have to decide if she wants to side with her family or her boyfriend.

Stiles’ hallucination is by far the most heartbreaking and I have a lot of feelings for Stiles so when anything happens to him I’m a wreck. Stiles sees his father, drunk and in funeral attire. His father yells at Stiles and blames him for his wife’s death and berates him for being such a problematic son. Here we get a good long look at all of Stiles internalized insecurities. He somehow feels guilty about his mother’s death and his dad having to be his sole caregiver. My poor baby. I’ll be in the corner crying my eyes out for the rest of the night.

Lydia’s nightmares and hallucinations of Peter finally reach their peak. Through some ritual involving Derek, Lydia (again, most likely under Peter’s control) manage to bring Peter back to life. We don’t know what Peter’s endgame is yet. We’ll just have to wait and see. Also, we see Derek’s eyes flash red then return to their normal color. Does this mean he’s not the alpha anymore?

Peter HaleLast episode Allison’s mom, Victoria, was bit by Derek and now the Argent family has to deal with the very real prospect of her turning into a werewolf. Gerard wants to kill her, but Chris (Victoria’s husband) obviously want to wait. Victoria wants to tell Allison what’s going on, but doesn’t get the chance. Before the full moon rises and the transformation begins, Chris helps Victoria kill herself. It’s incredibly sad and I even feel sympathetic towards them. These are bad guys here and I feel so much for them in this moment. Victoria doesn’t get to tell her daughter good-bye, Chris having to deal with the difficult choice of helping to kill his wife rather than see he turn into the very monster they hunt, and then there’s Allison. Allison doesn’t find out about any of this until she meets her dad at the hospital and sees her mom is dead. And she cries, so miserably it breaks my heart for like 100th time tonight. All the awards to Crystal Reed for this scene because she was brilliant.

And we finally get the big reveal! Who is controlling the kanima? Turns out it’s Matt. Slightly creepy, camera guy, Matt. I definitely did not see that coming. Why does he want revenge on the Beacon Hill High swim team of 2006? We’ll have to stay tuned to find out.
