David Yardin Cover

Marvel Comics – July 2009 – $2.99 – 32 pgs – Color

Writer: Peter David – Art: Valentine De Landro & Marco Santucci – Cover: David Yardin

Synopsis:  The book continues on from last issue dropping in on the individual team-ups of Rictor/Guido and Madrox/Layla Miller.  Out of respect for Peter David’s request for readers to not reveal too much on line I will not explore the specific details of the story, but instead more general story elements.  You should know by now that Madrox has found his way back to the future, and the rest of the team is working without his involvement.  Rictor and Guido have taken off (without Siryn’s approval) to investigate what happened to Madrox.

Review:  The greatest part of this book is Peter David’s amazing ability to tell a story and to go in depth with little known characters, give us great humor, and witty dialogue.  I seriously can not get enough of this title, and hope that David does the writing honors for many issues to come.  For some reason Madrox and Layla are just great together.  The writing on this book has been hitting on all cylinders since issue one except for a few annoying crossover deals here and there.  If you like mutants this title should be in your pull list.  Honestly if you are a fan of comics you should most definitely be reading this.  Artwork was split between Madrox’s pages and the rest of the team, but I felt it worked together really well.  The cover was the only thing I was somewhat disappointed with this issue….it was just kinda “blah.”
