My Public Wish List

I believe that it's only a matter of time before my local comic book store shuts it's doors.

Thus, I'm interested in finding a reliable place online to get new comics as they come out. I have various places to get back issues and old comics.

Alternatively, I may just turn to finding a way to get the Diamond Catalogue myself and ordering TPBs through Amazon and let comics slide.

Any help?

Try Heavy Ink (www.heavyink.com). They've been pretty awesome as a substitute for my LCBS.

Hi Here is a good sites

This a preorder site http://www.dcbservice.com/ It has comics 35% to 75% off. This is a good place to get trade paperbacks.
They have a flat rate shipping $5.95. They ship 1 time a mouth so no matter how big your order is they ship it all at one time. They will ship more often put it will cost more.
I think they also have a subsiption service too but i don't use it. They will also bag and board comics too for a fee.
I use them all the time they have good service and the comics are not damaged when they arrive.

This site http://www.tfaw.com/ is owned buy Darkhorse, but they sell all publisher comics. This site gives 10% off, but if you subscribe you get 20% off. I have neve used this site I just browse it.

http://www.mailordercomics.com/ this is a site I ordered form it has up to 75% off comics. This site is also a preoder site, not as good as bcdservise. I have ordered 2 times with this company. I didn't like the shipping of the comics. They put your comics in plastic bag and put that in a padded envelope. One order came in with dented coners on the comics.
This site handles the back issuse for them http://www.comicbooksupermarket.com/ and give 35% off comics with free bags and boards.

I hope this was of help to you

Things From Another World is my go-to site for subscriptions and recent comics, and I'll shop around at MyComicShop, Newkadia, or Amazon for back issues.

My Public Stash
My Public Wish List

So I meant to post this ages ago. Didn't have time to finish so I saved it. Now I'm finishing it, dangit!

I just spent many hours (literally) checking out a number of online subscription sites. As Avengersfan stated, you can subscribe from the publisher. However, at
least Marvel, has a 12-month buy plan. I like being able to control it month to month. Anyway, I'm glad to have found this thread so I can blabber on a bit.

Many years ago, before I got out of comics, my LCS gave me a discount (somewhere between 10 to 20 I think). Because of that I guess I came to expect a discount for
reliable purchasing (and it gives the owner/purchaser better insight into required inventory). However, at my local comic store in Madison, WI - Westfield Comics,
when I asked if they offered a discounted subscription service I was told, "There's no discount, but we can set up a pull list for you. And there's no charge." I
chuckled to myself. We just went from the customer looking for a discount to being told I don't have to pay for them to do this for me. There is another comic
store in town that I like, but it's like in heart of town - far away from me.

What I was looking for in an online subscription site:
  • Ease of Use
  • Low/Reasonable Shipping Costs
  • Quality Shipping
  • Quality Condition
  • Comic Book Discount (which turned out to be
    #1 priority for me)

Westfield: Without a bit of local bias, I felt they had one of the better layouts. I can thank their site for filling me in on
upcoming DC crossovers by simply browsing the titles available for pre-order w/o bringing up an additional page. A simple hover-over of the title name/number
provides a quick summary of the issue. The name also includes important crossover information in it: "LEGION LOST #9 (THE CULLING)" Great for someone like me that
isn't in the loop for what's coming out. Another nice aspect is a shorter deadline for pre-orders. Unfortunately for local folk - you cannot pick up the order.
It has to ship. They have 20% off their issues. Ultimately, I decided not to go with them. Ordering from out of state offers a benefit of no taxes, and to be
honest, my experiences with the staff has really been mediocre or worse. I mean, they're fine people, but the level of customer service (in person) just isn't what
I'd hope for (or have experienced at other LCS's, be they ones I've shopped at or simply stopped into). Due to their short pre-order time-frame, I managed to get
my April order in with them (while I wasn't for the site I went with). So I'm hoping that for the month of April, even though my order is shipped (weekly), I get
it quickly.

MyComicShop: I wanted to like them. I think they have a relatively decent site. Actually, their normal site is very slick.
Their pre-order site is less fancy, but definitely functional. Thing is, I've had mediocre experiences with ordering back issues from them. The prices were right,
but I only ever order NM comics, and the last batch of 36 comics was NM- at best, if not worse. I've read a lot online about their lackluster customer support.
They're located in Texas, and I was also taking location into consideration in regard to how long it might take a shipment to get to me. Overall, what made me shy
away from them was their discount structure. I'd have to order quite a bit to hit 20%, and as cross-over season dies down, I wouldn't be hitting that level.

- everything from here on out was typed a month after the above, so it's less detailed -
Discount Comic Book Service: This is the site I went with. With up to 40% off, it just couldn't be beat. Online reviews
seemed to be pretty positive. Their website is decent. Still could use some improvements, but pretty well done. Being in Indiana, it's only two states away from
me. However, I was pretty much sold on the price. Due to the big discount, I'm having the books shipped weekly. All in all, I'm looking forward to paying less
for my comics.

And now it's April, and I'm hoping to see my first shipment (from Westfield for this month) soon!

I like to use www.scifigenre.com.  There website lets you set up a pull list with ease and lets you bid on incentive covers.  They will ship whenever you want them to (I use once a month) and you get a discount on your purchases depending on how many comics you subscribe to.  Also they have the back issue store where a lot of times you can find good comics for .25 cents and they have a good selection of toys and figures, as well.  I've never had an issue here and the whole set up works great.  I really recommend it.

Ugh, I just have to share my frustration. We're nearing the 3rd comic book Wed of the month, and despite having pre-ordered from Westfield with
weekly shipments, I have yet to see any comics. I contacted them, but man, this is so frustrating. I even live in the same town, am not allowed to
pick up the order, and even if they did ship it it should take 3-4 days tops (I'd imagine it to be much quicker since it should only need to be sorted
then out for delivery).

I just ordered from www.newkadia.com and was very pleased with how they did things.  The prices were fair and I got my shipment 2 days after ordering.

I think I'll be switching from mycomicshop.com to newkadia from now on.

My two experiences with NewKadia were both bad. Comics listed as NM+ with a cover crease that breaks color. Personally, there's no reason for me to trust
the grading.

In regard to my post about Westfield, apparently despite requesting my pre-orders weekly, something I had selected on my profile forced all ordered comics to
wait until all ordered comics were in. I guess if I had put another pre-order in... I never would have gotten my comics? (I had interpreted the selection
on their site as hold any back issue orders until the pre-order was in to ship.) Kind of wacky to select Weekly and then have some other vaguely worded
thing in regard to shipping hold my shipping. That said the customer rep there was very helpful.

For a while I didn't live in the vacinity of a comic book shop.  On occasion when I would head home I would get them at Barnes & Noble but for the most part I order from: http://www.midtowncomics.com

They have 3 locations in New York.  Their online store is amazing though.  The prices are descent (unless you count the shipping so that adds up some) but I like it.  They always ship on time and the quality is excellent.

I been debating on buying my comics online or driving the
hour one way to comic book store myself. I probably will
make the drive next week and see how it goes getting
everything I want and setting up the pull list. What I have
looked at though I do like Midtowncomics they seem like the
one I would go with if I was buying online.

www.newkadia.com would be great for back issues, and they're shipping price for any amount of books you order will always be $1.50. That has me sold right there.

Colts, where are you located? I've ordered from Midtown (back issues) and was mostly happy other than an inventory issue (not having a
specific comic that was the whole reason why I ordered from them). I will say that I'm really liking
DCBS. I'm in WI and with DCBS in IN, I have my comics shipped weekly since I have a big pull list and
want my comics (heh) and I usually have them at my door on Friday, and on occasion on Thursday.

In regard to newkadia, I've ordered from 3 times and each time had issues with their grading. Personally if I ever find I want to order
something from them, I'm going to ask for scans first. That said - they do have really great shipping prices.

I am located in southern Indiana about hour away from KY
border. The closest Comic shop is actually right before KY
border an hour away. DCBS is located in Ft. Wayne which is
5 hours north of me. What is shipping cost from them I
might give them shot. Be cheaper then driving to comic book
store and still have them before the weekend.

All shipping from DCBS is like $6 bucks no matter how much you order. So it really makes sense if your pull list is like 10+ comics. All Marvel is like 2.39 for the 3.99 books and DC's 2.99 books are like 1.79. Tons of discounts. The only thing that sucks is having to order so far in advance. Like if you ordered today you'd get September's list I believe.

Customer service is really good if you forget to add something or are missing a back issue. Just drop them an email.

I've only purchased from mycomicshop.com as far as online comic sales go. Their shipping is reasonable, the comics have always arrived in great shape, and I have no issues with them. Just sucks they're in TX and I'm in NY. I may start trying out midtown. I just happen to like the way MCS's site is set up.

Newkadia's site looks like crap and makes me think off the bat they just have a warehouse full of beat up crap. From what I've read here, makes it sound like my first instinct wasn't far off.

Well DCBS seems like its good site. But it does kind of
suck ordering that far ahead but you do get nice discount
though. I don't know I will look into it and see what I
deciede. Might just buy what I want from online and not
preorder for now or just make the drive every 2 weeks to
shop and setup pull list on them.

I order from newkadia all the time, and honestly, I have never had one problem with any of the comics they've sent me.  Their prices are very good, shipping cost is excellent, and they take my money same day as I order.  I've recieved my comics in as little as 3 days from newkadia, and I've always been very happy with what I've got.

For mycomicshop.com, I used to order from them all the time, and though their site is set up better, they don't take my money same day as ordering (sometimes, I have to wait up to 5 days for them to take the money out of my bank account) then, I have to pay additional for bags, boards and shipping.  I don't mind this, but the more you order, the more it costs.  With newkadia, the $1.50 you pay for shipping INCLUDES bags and boards.

newkadia.com is a great site, but they don't always have what I want.  Sometimes, they're out of stock for back issues in the series I'm looking for, but like with all stores, you just have to be patient and wait for them to restock.  It usually doesn't take long.

I think I going to give the shop an hour away a shot and
drive there every 2 weeks and use online to pick up any
issues I can't get in the store. I hitting comic book store
in Indy this weekend. See what I like then hit local comic
book store wed seeing how I off all next week and set me up
a pull list and get things started. Any suggestions on how
to do this as I have only been to a comic book store few
times but I do know they do a pull list as they told me
when I was there last time but never set one up.

Colts - I suggest calling the store ahead of time. Unless you want to go check it out again to make sure you want to order from there.

I have to take back my 'issue' with midtown having an inventory problem. I've bought a lot of comics online (filling in the 6 years I
missed), and I've had a lot of refunds due to comics not being in stock and even being sent the wrong comic. I guess it's a risk you take
(with back issues - in regard to Colts' question, I'd imagine pulled comics are less of an issue).

Yeah I know I kind of at a loss where to get my comics
from. Seems most online stores you got to order or setup
pull list few months in advance. Which isn't a problem
except like now that I just getting started I don't want
to miss out on the comics in between now and 3 months
from now any suggestions on this.

Navik is the upgrade to weekly shipping is that 12.95
charge fee every month plus 6.95 weekly shipping or what is
the cost per month for shipping if you go with weekly
shipping. I am little confused on that with DCBS. They seem
to be the way to go long term for orders just got to fill
in the gap between now and when I start recieving them.

Well one thing I can say for DCBS is they have good
customer service. I emailed them and within 20 minutes had
a response and it wasn't no automated answer. That probably
just won me over right there.
