| Moderator Group Joined: 15 February 2010 | It's so intense! I watched like 5 shows in a row last night. I prefer the shows which focus on potential abductions and Mulder's story with his sister. I hope Scully gets more back story too. So far she's just sort of there as a foil for Mulder. I like her and would like more interesting stories about her. I do get the feeling though sometimes like she should start "believing" because every case she takes with Mulder is weird and "unexplainable". I even yell at the screen sometimes, "Believe already! Can't you see the evidence!!!" LOL I actually got into it as part of a research for an RPG campaign I'm putting together. In the story I'm building cryptids are real, they are just from a parallel dimension. __________________ |

You will have to tell me what you think of the "comedy" episodes. There are some off the wall SUPER hilarious episodes about once a season. I think you will love them. My wife and I have been getting into the show Fringe recently. It kinda makes me feel like it's X-Files for the new generation. Senior Member Joined: 20 October 2010 | I watched X-Files faithfully when it came out originally. Then bought a bunch on VHS, and finally bought all the seasons on DVD. For the most part the series is done very well. While I am not a "believer", as a sci-fi show, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was very entertained with the Mulder/sister storyline. Not as much with Scully's back story, but it was ok. I was very intrigued with the secret world organization story line. @Chip I agree the funny stories were great. My favorite, off the top of my head, is probably the "Walking in Memphis" show, if you know which one I mean. @Igor While I agree that the series gets better as it goes with Mulder and Scully, for me it dramatically drops off at about Season 8, if I remember right when they introduce the new characters. @Jason As to your original question, I have the entire run of the Topps original comic book series, and for the most part, if you like the tv series, you'll probably like the comic book run as well. |

| Moderator Group Joined: 15 February 2010 | Off topic: I personally tend to believe there are alien forces beyond our comprehension in the universe. And I believe some of those forces are intelligent and sentient. In what form do those entities exist? Probably not physical. And the intent/motivation of those beings and forces is probably an even more complex thing to understand. I keep up casually on theoretical physics and quantum mechanics and the more discoveries are made, the more baffling and bizarre the universe appears to be. Which has led me to adjust my worldview to not dismiss the strange and bizarre as always delusions and psychoses. In short, I'm okay with not knowing for the moment. __________________ |

don't tend to like comics based off TV/Movies... I was always into the more random episodes. I like world building too, and I think x-files does a good job of it. It's just that, by the last couple seasons, the entire tone and focus of the show had changed, which always throws me. I thought so anyway. Of course, I don't think I've really WATCHED the show since high school...maybe I ought to go remedy that! I've been reading the reports on the M.I.T conference on abductions and you can tell the writers did extensive research on the subject. The depictions of the abductions in episode 5 is quite literally taken from descriptions from abductees. Very cool show! __________________ |
