"The Devil in Cell-Block D, Part 5"
Marvel Comics - August, 2006 - $2.99 - T+ - Color
Writer: Ed Brubaker - Artist: Michael Lark - Cover: David Finch

Daredevil is in prison. Many people want him dead, villains and politicians alike. The sh*t is going to hit the fan. Matt gets a visit from Milla, who reminds him to remember who he is. Foggy didn't die for a violent murderer, he died for a righteous man. As soon as Milla is safely off Ryker's, Matt springs into action, taking down the guard returning him to his cell and saving the warden from an assassination attempt, as the riot breaks out in full force.

In the meantime, Kingpin's lackey has freed Bullseye from his cell on the Kingpin's order, and he's loaded with a deck of cards. His first target is Hammerhead, who dives off the balcony into the sea of fighting cons to escape. At the same time, Daredevil makes his way to Kingpin's side to help fight the cons, as they both have a price on their heads. Soon enough, Bullseye also shows up and joins them as the Black Tarantula falls to the ground, riddled with playing cards. Daredevil was not aware of this plan, and remembering what Milla told him, he attacks Bullseye. Bullseye takes a shot at him, but Matt jumps out of the way and Fisk is hit in the knee. Knocking Bullseye unconscious, Matt leaves them and goes to the Punisher's cell (who turned himself in two issues ago). Frank is sitting quietly in his cell reading a book, four dead cons outside his cell. Matt gives him the shotgun and asks for help escaping.

Hot damn! Brubaker is insanely on fire with his stories lately. Bring back Bucky over in Cap, kills foggy in DD... he's throwing the whole Marvel Universe in a tailspin, and I'm loving every page. I love that we get to see Matt in action a little bit, rather than Daredevil, and I especially love that the Punisher knew that Matt would need some help, so he turned himself in to be at his side. Amazing. In the finale of this arc next month, looks like they are going to escape, and maybe that will explain why Daredevil keeps popping up in Civil War.
