A lot of new ideas for shows are tossed around without ever going anywhere. Deadman, Booster Gold, and the Spectre have all recently been brought up as potential headliners only to have those rumors fade away. But it seems like the WB is serious about bringing Green Arrow to the screen...more or less. The show will be called Arrow to separate it from recent big screen flops like Green Lantern and Green Hornet. Casting has already begun with Canadian Stephen Amell tapped to play Ollie and Katie Cassidy as Black Canary. I'm not familiar with Amell, but you might remember Cassidy as the original Ruby on Supernatural.

Of course there are still several more hurdles to jump through before going to air. Just last year NBC got as far as filming the pilot for Wonder Woman before canning the project.

I have my fingers crossed for this. I really hope they don't destroy the comics name. I can some what see Stephen
as Oliver but I'm not sure if I see Katie (at least from
that photo) as Dinah. I hope they don't leave her as a
blond the whole time.

I never watched the episodes of Smallville with GA in it
but I talked to the lady at my LCS and she said she did not
like it.

Green arrow in Smallville was pretty cool, but was just a supporting
character. If you like green arrow you should still give it a watch for
fun!

Definitely liked her better than the 2nd Ruby, and I'm confident she can pull off the tough, street fighter side of Black Canary.

I'm looking forward to this series.  Though it has no connection to Smallville's GA it should be pretty cool.

I loved Smallville's Green Arrow and even the comics so I'm looking forward to a new rendition.

Saw the pilot at Comic-Con and while I don't want to go overboard, this has the chance to be a big hit for the CW. It's not gonna be a network hit but the CW exists on a different ratings level and this has the right balance to really work. It's got a Smallville appeal where you can jump right in, but it also has a very Christopher Nolan Batman aspect in that it's not all light and fluffy like Smallville was. Amell as Arrow was spot-on casting, Cassidy is really underrated and I think she'll be a great Canary, but watch out for Willa Holland as Mia if they ever decide to go with the Speedy comic story because she can be a breakout star.

Really, really looking forward to more.

My teen side is a huge Cassidy fan who thinks she's hot, so knowing she's involved has me leaning closer to watching. My adult side agrees, but refers to her as a "talented actress".
But i do recall reading somewhere that there was a clip that showed Deathstroke's mask in a clip, not featured, but in the shot. Can anyone confirm that?

Confirmed. It was shown at the comic-con panel.
