It’s hard to believe that 2019, the time period for the original Blade Runner movie is considered now ‘in the past.’ It’s 2020 already and that means that the future is now! Several comic books have used the year 2020 as a sort of benchmark for futuristic adventures. 35 years ago when the Iron Man of 2020 first popped up in the pages of Machine Man, the year of double 20s seemed so far away. But now we are in the time period of not Tony Stark’s Iron Man- but his brother Arno! Let’s have Brian explain more to you in his Geek Pick for January 15th, 2020.
Iron Man has always been my favorite in comics, but admittedly, I have been on the fence with Slott on Iron Man. The direction he has taken with Tony has no doubt been interesting and has now lead up to another huge Marvel event taking place over a good portion of 2020 relating to the death of Tony Stark. I have already added every issue of every tie-in to my pull list, but that’s not because I am necessarily excited about this event. It’s more out of necessity as a true Iron Man fan that just needs to know for the sake of information. My pick of the week is out of anxiety, not necessarily excitement. I am hoping that this first issue of the event puts me over the fence with Dan Slott’s Tony Stark.
