Morgan Spurlock Comic Con documentary Poster

Final update: An unknown party has released an official statement on this.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the COMIC-CON EPISODE 4 tour has been cancelled. However, the film will be released April 6 in theaters and on VOD and the good news is that it will now be in theaters in many more cities. Morgan will be making special appearances in many of these theaters and you can check the website closer to April 6 for updates.

Update: A single small piece of news has been released about this stating that “the multi-city tour has been cancelled” No reason was given. More as it comes.*

The documentary film-maker Morgan Spurlock most famous for Super-Size Me, is taking his crew to comic-con to document the comic-con experience from a variety of angles. Spurlock made an appearance on a recent Doug Loves Movies where he stated that a mini-con event will be organized at each city this movie screens. It’s a very cool idea. The trailer is not cut in such a way that I’m feeling particularly compelled to see the flick, but this film-maker obviously has chops, so this could be worth a look.

The documentary is called: “Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope” the screening tour begins April 5th in Atlanta. Watch the trailer and see the full touring schedule here.

The documentary will screen at the following cities. Will you be near one of these when it airs?

April 5 – Atlanta, Cobb Energy Center
April 6 – Orlando, UCF Arena
April 7 – Miami Beach, The Fillmore Miami Beach
April 12 – Rochester, Rochester Dome Arena
April 13 – Albany, Palace Theatre
April 14 – Philadelphia, Girard College
April 15 – Wallingford, CT, Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre
April 19 – Cincinnati, Taft Theatre
April 20 – Chicago, Rosemont Theatre
April 22 – Detroit, Fillmore Detroit

P.S: Please, can we stop with the goofy and clichéd bursts, panels, dot gain effects and “hero horns” for every stinking project relating to comics? It’s all starting to look the same.

*Thanks to the beat for breaking this.

If you go see it at one of these screenings, let us know. It would be nice if one of ours would review the film for us.

Closest one is Atlanta but that is still about a 2-3 hour drive for me. If plans change around that time I will see what I can do.

The closest for me also is Atlanta. If I can shuffle some things around, I may just be able to go see this.

I just got off the phone with the Cobb Center, and they have stated that the viewing for April 5th in Atlanta has been cancelled. They gave no reason other than the promoters decided to cancel the show.
