questions and if you know the answer post the answer as
well, we will use this thread to gather all the questions
and figure out the answers and then ill update the faqs

My Public Stash

Here's a few to get started, Igor.

Submission questions:

How do I earn comic points?
Sign-Up with us and then use the links on the main user page or the individual issue page to submit information & images. We will review each submission and assign Comic Points to your account accordingly. What is each submission worth:
Cover Image - 10 points
New Comic Info - 7 points
Partial Comic Info - 3 points

Rate an issue - 3 points
Review an issue - 1 point for every letter you type in the Review

How do I submit a cover image and what size should they be?

How long it does it take to process the images that people submit?
It depends on how busy the admins are, and how many images have been submitted recently....but generally within a week or two.

Database questions:

What do the symbols § , ω , C mean?
§ Means the issue is in your stash.
ω Means the issue is in your wishlist.
C Means the issue is also collected in a reprinted form somewhere else (ie: an archive, another comic book, or trade paperback)

1. The Matrix

2. Is it really a smell, or a program designed to make you think you smell?

Go to your stash and on the bottom left click, "missing covers". This pulls up a list of books in your stash which don't have cover images in the database. Click "N" to bring up the uploading window. All the uploading parameters are indicated. You can upload from you hard drive or from a url.

What counts for pages for the page count?
Story pages?  All pages inc. ads but excluding cover?  All pages inc. cover?  Each side counts as a separate page right?  Does the inside cover count?  What if there is story on the inside cover? hehe

The site is Igor's and he is the admin. His screen name is Nisav. He's very cool.

I think chip takes care of some validation/uploading new data so does bobthegopher. I'm sort of taking care of the blog kind of.

I know there's others but they're quietly working away at making the machine work. We don't hear much from them and I don't know who they are. But I do know they are cool also.

My Public Wish List

I'd like to know...

1. What is the proper way for submitting a variant cover?

2. If I've stashed my comics by physical boxes how can I see my complete collection in alphabetical order?

3. Is there a way to share your stash but only with people you send an invite/URL to? Or is the only way to make it all public?

4A. Are there plans to change the stash/wishlist submission mechanism to be more like a shopping cart or at least don't redirect to a confirmation page.... just pop up a window that says "x issues added to Y stash".

4B. If 4A is done it would be nice to have a select inverse... to quickly select the items that aren't in the stash to add to your wish list.

Thanks! This site is really good... but could be GREAT!

1. Go to submit new issue/series and type the title as you see it on the
site. Enter the issue number and the variant letter. Fill out as much
info as you can and in the notes pit that its a variant and any
additional info.

2. Go to search, select My Stash option, leave the rest as is and click
search. the results will be only of items in your stash and
alphabetized.

3. Really only by making it public. But you could share the rss link
without making your stash public.

4. There isnow...why didnt I think of it.

4b. You can do that in the checklist.

I've started work on this but it's a considerable amount of
work. Very educational for me though. :) Hope it helps when
it's published.

Some questions that have been asked in the past and may
come up once in a while?

How do I submit a new series?

What is considered an appearance vs. a cameo?

Is a dead body of a character still considered an
appearance?

If I want to update the current value of a comic, what
source should I use? Overstreet? Ebay?

Under editors, do we also put down associate editors?

Why was my data submission marked RJCTD?

Do I have to pay to use this site?

How many comics are in the database?

How is StashMyComics.com different to other online comic
book databases?

There is incorrect information for this comic. How do I
correct it?

If the book contains a preview of a different comic, should
the creators be credited on that comic info page?

If a character appears only as his civilian self and not in
costume, do we list him as usual or only his alter-ego?

ie. Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)vs. Hal Jordan only.

count it cover to cover, all pages, covers included, ads
included, everything included.

Are you counting both sides of the page so that each
individual page is a count of 2 or just the one side so
that each page is a 1 count?

Question: Where do you list a creator who is credited as being the artist?

My suggested answer: If an individual is credited as the artist it most likely means that he or she did a combination of the pencil,
ink, and color work in a book. If an individual is credited alongside an inker and colorist then it should be assumed that he or she did only
the pencil art. If an individual is credited alongside a colorist then it should be assumed that he or she did both the pencil and ink art and
he or she should be listed under both categories. If there are no other credits in the book and it is in color it should be assumed that he or
she did all the art and he or she should be listed under all three categories. If you are not sure or have doubts as to what the artist has
done with regard to a particular book, look at other works done by the artist for insight. For example, if an individual who has previously
done no work as a colorist is credited in a colored book as being the "artist" and no colorist is credited, then he or she probably did not do
the colors.

What I think: Character entries should be as consolidated as possible. Character with dual identities are listed as the database as "Alter ego
(Real name)". Regardless of which identity a character uses, the same entry will be used. So if Bruce Wayne appears in a book, but not as Batman,
the appearance should still be categorized under "Batman (Bruce Wayne)". Some characters have adopted different identities at different times. For
example, Dick Grayson was at different times Robin, Nightwing, and Batman. If Dick Grayson appears in a book as just Dick Grayson and not as any
of his other identities then he should be listed under the contemporaneous identity. That is, if at the time he was Robin then he should be listed
under "Robin (Dick Grayson)" and if at the time he was Nightwing then he should be listed under "Nightwing (Dick Grayson)".

What about a character like Jason Wynn?  He is a human for several issues of Spawn before becoming Ant-Spawn.  How would that be listed?

List him as Jason Wynn in the issues he is human, and then Anti-Spawn (Jason Wynn) after he's changed, or list him always as Anti-Spawn (Jason Wynn) ?
