OK, let's try this.

If you see the Thor movie this weekend or at the beginning of next week. Write your review in this thread. In a few days I will compile bits and pieces of your reviews into a blog article about what stash my comics users think if the Thor movie. You'll be credited fo your words of course.

If this works, we'll do it for other movies as well.

:)

Saw it at 12:01 last night.

It was a nice origin movie I thought.

Characters were nicely done, I thought Heimdall (Idris Elba) was a badass, I really would have like to seen more of him. I thought Josh Dallas (Fandral) was an amazing casting call for marvel studios. Chris Hemsworth as Thor was one of the best character representations by far in any Marvel Movie to date. Tom Hiddleston was so the trickster, I really like his facial movements for Loki the most. I did like the CGI for the Frost Giants. I really wish they would have not had the Destroyer armor act like it was its own entity though, very disappointed in that aspect.

Really would have liked to seen a glance of Amora and Executioner. Was it them in the prison area? ONly a siloeuette you see.

Ray Stevenson another duel cast for Marvel. Lol.

The battle were awesome. The opening battle with the Frost Giants was definetly the best out of the 3 major battles.

The Hawkeye scene was sorta funny, first the shotgun, then he throws it and graps the bow. Nice.

After credits were weak. So they introduce the villian for the Avengers like we didn't knowi t was going to be Loki. The ultimate power though, I didn't follow thru on where they were going though.

9/10 in my book.

I think Thor was well cast and I like that the character
seemed very three dimensional, and not perfect. The movie
its self was hysterical; I was cracking up the whole time.
But it still had tons of great action, GREAT costumes and
nice settings. Plus, plenty of marvel universe references
:)

I did think it had too much romance. By which I mean, it
had romance. but other than that it was pretty good.

How'd you guys like it?

Pretty much just echoing you guys. I loved the movie. In more detailed response...

I was honestly alright with the romance plot. I didn't think it overemphasized... and it was far less infuriating than every other Marvel movie romance (I swear... I'd like to kill every one of them except maybe Bruce/Betty... the rest are incredibly frustrating... lookin' at you especially, Stark).

But, I mean, it wasn't the main thrust of the movie. The action was excellent. The initial flashback approach was... less than stellar. Even with my not being a fan of that, I felt the pacing was quite good. Lots of humor; the Stan cameo was awesome as usual.

Even though Hawkeye was just a cameo here, a stronger cameo would have been nice.

Excellent Loki. He could have easily stolen the show had the rest of it not been equally impressive. +1 to Heimdall love.

And another +1 to after credits being fairly weak. Excited about Loki in Avengers, but it didn't really do much for me. Not really knowing what the power in reference was didn't help (still new at this comics thing, y'see).

Overall? Loved this movie. A lot. Felt different from all the other Marvel films yet still the same. Definitely recommended. I'll be getting this one on Blu-Ray when it releases for sure.

Edit: I didn't catch a "have at thee!" Big deal? Not really. I wanted one, though. :P

This is still pending. I hope to see the movie Thursday and make the blog post with these reviews along with mine after I watch it. I'd like to add in my two cents.

If anyone else wants to add their thoughts, don't be shy.

I'll just point out the reason they got an Australian to play Thor is because we ALL look like that.

Seriously.

Ok I posted these, I can't go watch Thor until Saturday and figured it might be helpful to have it up on the blog before the weekend.

I just got back from seeing it and I LOOOOVED IT!!!!

I'm so glad that a superhero steeped in ancient mythology was a successful movie. This opens the doors to all sorts of other great films that could be done.

It was a great stress reliever to see this great movie. My Mom is in the hospital in a semi-coma and it was just so great to forget about everything for a few hours and get lost in a great movie!

Glad the movie is getting good reviews on here. I look forward to seeing it when it comes out on video. Like Jason's Geek on a Budget with comics, I am frugal when it comes to movies. I have developed a thing I did not have when I was younger called patience. I wait till the movie comes out on DVD for a while, then buy it for less than it would have cost for me to go by myself to the movie.
@ Jason, sorry to hear about your Mom. My prayers are with her and you at this time.

Add another to the concern for your mum. Hope that she
recovers well and soon. Will pray for her/you, too.

On a lighter note: Glad you loved the movie. ;)

Thanks guys. Mom has been doing slightly better. She is breathing without a machine now some of the time. There is a chance she might wake up occasionally in the next few days. The truth is her condition does not bother me because she has had health problems for over a decade. What is difficult is the effect this has on Dad.

Anyway, I told the family I was hoping to take a few days off from the ordeal thursday and friday so I hope to do some comics reading and just basic destressing stuff then.

Finally saw this movie! You know you have the best wife in the world when
she chooses to see Thor for your anniversary!! Anyways, I thought they did
a decent job. I felt like the parts on Earth moved really fast and that less
time could have been spent on the Frost Giant world in the beginning. I
think they could have milked the awkward interactions between Thor and
Earthlings. That was some of my favorite stuff. Also, some of the Frost
Giant CGI looked on par with stuff they did on the first Lord of the Rings.
Not bad, just obvious enough.

I saw it not too long ago, and really really liked it. I liked how the story developed and everything played out. I liked how Sir Hopkins did, I thought he had just as big of balls as you would expect outta Thors dad. One smaller part I really like was the part when Odin banishes Thor to Earth and it shows his "outfit?" being takin away, then later when it comes back. It reminds me of the Iron Man movies when Stark puts on his suit, its important imo to show that transformation. And make it look as kick ass as they did. Oh yeah Portman..."Nuff Said"

Kat Dennings, who is usually pretty hot pulled off the dorkiness pretty well.
