Just had a question and was hoping someone could help me out. I am new to SMC, however, my collection consists of 99% trade and was wondering if there was a way that I could catalogue the trades? Thanks for your help! |

they are directly collecting issues from one title then they are often listed under that title. If they include multiple titles in the trade then it is most likely listed under it's own title. Welcome to the site! __________________ Preorder my GN, METAPHASE, on Amazon! Twitter: @ChipReece |

So how did you start collecting? Around 94/95, I earned a gift voucher for a shop that had a collection of comics stored away in a dusty corner. With nothing else of interest, at least in the vouchers price range, I picked up a handful various titles. ![]() This one immediately stood out to me as it threw out my preconceived superhero stereotypes. After finding a few more Punishers in a different store, a collection was started. Eventually I bought all the issues available in local stores and it was too expensive to travel to different cities to see what they had - not everyone had internet back then and those that did enjoyed the joys of dial up connections. Fast forward to now and I've decided it's time to fill in the missing story arc pieces and take advantage of broadband. How many comics are in collection approximately? 170 from back in the day, currently 30 or so more on order. What do you like to collect? Mostly Punishers with the odd Daredevil & Spiderman popping up. Which title/character is most found in your collection? I'll give you one guess ![]() |

Dead Mans Hand, Suicide Run and a couple of others were storylines I own a couple of the books so filling in the blanks there was my first choice to purchase, though I have read that Garth's stuff was pretty good. |

A friend introduced me to Legion of the Superheroes and American Flagg back in the early 90's. I took a break from comics for about 8 years (mainly due to lack of money and a bad experience with a person who was getting my comics for me.). Now I am back. I re-started with some of the New 52 from DC. How many comics are in collection approximately? 2652 and growing. What do you like to collect? I generally tend to get drawn to comics with great art and at least a good story these days. Which title/character is most found in your collection? Legion of the superheroes (although I am not collecting the new series of LOSH) |

I'm not in expert in comics, but feel free to ask me anything! So how did you start collecting? My parents bought me comics when I was a toddler (I'm a college kid now). If memory serves me right, it was a modest pile of mostly Spider-man with a few Ghost Rider, RoboCop, and a Legend of Zelda comic arbitrarily thrown in . Anyways, those comics are now long gone but my interest in entertaining stories follow me to this day. How many comics are in collection approximately? About 2 longboxes worth and a bunch of trades. What do you like to collect? I'm into great artwork (love Mignola's style) and strong writing. Good cover art is also a plus. On top of the typical superhero comics, I enjoy darker stories that deal with supernatural elements. Which title/character is most found in your collection? Many Batman and Superman related stories. This is probably because I grew up on the animated series and still occasionally watch them from time to time! |

So how did you start collecting? I started collecting about 25 years ago. My older brother had a few comics, like 10-15, and would let me read them over and over and like any little brother I had to have some of my own. So I just started asking for one every time we would go to the grocery store. Eventually I started getting more serious and would spend every dollar I had on them. Around high school I stopped reading/collecting but never sold any of my books just stored them away. Four long boxes full. Here recently I have fallen back in love with Comics and have started taking my oldest to the local shop and letting him pick out 4 books a month. 2 pulls (Avengers & Batman) plus two books that interest him that month. How many comics are in collection approximately? I have input my entire collection on here and it is around 1000 books What do you like to collect? Currently I am reading Detective Comics, Mind Mgmt, Walking Dead, X-O Manowar, Harbinger, and the new Watchmen books. I like collecting 1sts. Currently I am buying the Marvel Cosmic Characters like Quasar, Enternity, Infinity, Celestials..etc Which title/character is most found in your collection? When I was a kid I loved Spiderman so there is a great deal of his books in there. Ask again in six months and I will probably say either Batman or X-O Manowar __________________ The shows in my mind are almost always better - The Maxx |

and X-O. So far I am enjoying the re-re-launch. I picked up the the first 6 of the Acclaim/Valiant X-O Relaunch and couldn't make it through the first book. It was bad. The newest one was very enjoyable and a really good start to the series. I can't wait to see where the whole Valiant universe goes. Harbinger was a great start as well. I am in the process of buying the rest of Vol. 1 of X-O to begin a complete re-read of it. Hopefully it still holds up after 15+ years __________________ The shows in my mind are almost always better - The Maxx |

Major newcomer to collecting. I always was a bit of a geek and at one point it occurred to me, the one geek stereotype I didn't indulge was the comic book collection. I always liked the idea of reading/collecting comics and probably knew more about the more obscure characters than your average joe. So I thought I'd give reading a few a go. I bought he first few Walking Dead Trade Paperbacks off amazon. I loved the show and it seemed like a good as place any to start. Needless to say I loved them. I ordered the next lot off amazon but just couldn't wait for the postman to come knocking on my door for my next "fix". So I ventured into my small city's only comic book store, by no means brilliant but to me it was a Mecca of new worlds, new heroes and villains. I browsed for ages and decided to stick with some familiar faces from different genres, V for Vendetta, Scott Pilgrim and the like. But since then I've been hooked. And now searching to fill my meager collection with whatever I can get my hands on. How many comics are in collection approximately? As far as actual comics go I have a pitiful 5. #0 - #4 of the Avengers Vs X-Men series. Which I'm loving by the way and have already put my order in for many more. I also currently have 10 Walking Dead TPs, The V For Vendetta TP and the first 2 Scott Pilgrim books (Not sure if they count). My weakness for archer characters has came to light though in Ultimate Comics: Hawkeye HC and Hawkeye: Blindspot TP So overall that's just about 20 (Pitifull I know) What do you like to collect? I'm hoping catch up as fast as possible on the Walking Dead and also build by Hawkeye collection, as he is rapidly becoming my favourite character. |

As long as you're buying/collecting what you like and what you want doesn't make your collection pitiful. The only thing that would warrant that description is buying "hype" books that you heartfully couldn't care less about. I'm not too knowledgeable about good Hawkeye stories but you may want to check out "Avengers: Disassembled" and "House of M" and "New Avengers" (2005, the first series.) They don't exactly revolve around Hawkeye, but he makes up for a good sub-story throughout those stories/issues.

Like I said I'm really trying to bolster my collection so I can get I better understanding of the characters and story's arcs so I can make better judgements about what I need to get myself. So I'll definatley check those out. |

My friend, Leo, got me into comics after he convinced me to do a comics podcast with him. I always thought comics just weren't for me, since I didn't care much for superhero stories, but after I saw all the stories the industry had to offer, I was hooked. The Walking Dead was the first title I started reading and I loved it. After I got caught up, I just wanted more, and so my unending hunger for great comics remains unsatisfied. How many comics are in collection approximately? Most of the comics I've read have been borrowed, since I'm still relatively new to comics. I have about five first editions, including Chew #1, (sadly, just a reprint) which I have to say is my favorite. What do you like to collect? I find myself more drawn to first editions of indie comics, usually because most people I know haven't read them yet and I love to share a great story. Which title/character is most found in your collection? Since I don't actually have many comics... YET... I'll just share my favorite titles. I love me some Chew. It's probably my favorite series so far. The Walking Dead, Sweet Tooth, and Invincible are all favorites as well.

Been fan of him ever since. Then just grabbed other covers that interested me, Green Lantern and Daredevil being a couple other early faves. Still have those to this day.
I seem to lean more to Marvel, but recently I've stepped out a little, picking up different lines here and there. I'm more character driven, so if an arc features someone I like, I'll give it a shot. Though I've gotten on a TPB kick of late, picking up storylines and titles I either had never been aware of or look interesting. Defintely Iron Man, but a recent fave is Nova and I'm becoming a HUGE Deathstroke fan, picking up his early run and other titles featuring him. |

I had read comics off and on growing up and I've bought a few graphic novels through the years, but I hadn't collected comics until now. How many comics are in collection approximately? 74... I think I'm ready for another box. What do you like to collect? For now I'm collecting on back issues of the books I'm reading every month... some of the new 52 titles, Captain America, and Iron Man. So how did you start collecting? Got my first comic book when I was 7 or so (Uncanny X-Men 320 which I still have). First started collecting 10-11 years ago when i was about 13. Mainly collected Peter Parker and Amazing Spider-Man. Collected for 4 years, then stopped for about 6-7 years. Just started reading/collecting again in March after moving to Dallas and finding some great comic shops. Went to Dallas Comic Con not long after that and been collecting again since then (even met Stan Lee and had him sign a comic!) How many comics are in collection approximately? I have about 330 comics so far, with about 12-15 TPB (which I just started reading as well). What do you like to collect? I love Amazing Spider-Man and just recently began collecting all sorts of Batmans. Like collecting #1s of anything as well finding random, funny, goofy comics. Also just recently got into reading Preacher, which is amazing! I really enjoy great covers of any series as well. Recently started collecting Before Watchmen and AvX. Which title/character is most found in your collection? Spider-Man is what you will mostly find. Most of these are from 2001-2004.

So how did you start collecting? I started collecting comics in the 80's as a kid, and then sold them all off in the 90's to help finance college (not much, but bought books for a few semesters). I've always regretted selling them off. I had some wonderful titles, and some key books. Have to say Kick-Ass, and then the re-launch of DC 52 a while after that got me back into comics. Now I've collected just over 700 books, TPB, etc in just over a years time. And I'm loving reading m weekly comics. I've thought about going back and re-collecting some of my old favorites, but I'm really having a lot of fun with what I'm reading each week. How many comics are in collection approximately? Currently just over 700. What do you like to collect? Love Batman. Always have and always will. Currently really enjoying the Incredible Hulk, Saga, Thief of Thieves, Walking Dead, Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man, Spider-Men, Which title/character is most found in your collection? Batman, and The Walking Dead. Keep up the great work you do on the site. |
