***So how did you start collecting?***

It all started with the QUANTUM LEAP comics from Innovation. I was collecting all the novelizations at the time, and then found out there were comics to go along
with the series. That led to all of the other terrific movie/TV tie-ins that Innovation did like LOST IN SPACE, ANNE RICE'S INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE and so
on. Eventually, I spread my wings and interest to other comics.

***How many comics are in collection approximately?***

A lot more than I thought. I'm nowhere near finished cataloguing my stuff here and I'm up to 667. I'm guessing I'll finish off around 1,000 by the time I'm done
getting everything checked in.

***What do you like to collect?***

I'm not much of a superhero reader (except for FANTASTIC FOUR). I'm really driven by interesting storylines. I read through Previews really, really closely and
anything that catches my eye that sounds like an interesting plot I'll go after. I see that I tend to have a lot of horror, paranormal and time travel stuff. And I'm a
sucker for a movie/TV tie-in.

***Which title/character is most found in your collection?***

There is a lot of FANTASTIC FOUR and SPIDER-MAN because I was really wrapped up in a lot of the plot lines with those for a while. These days it's mostly DOCTOR
WHO and zombies. Surprisingly, I don't have any interest in THE WALKING DEAD.

Hey folks,

I thought I'd fill this out before I start posting in the other areas, so here goes!

So how did you start collecting?

A friend introduced me to Legion of the Superheroes and American
Flagg back in the early 90's.  I took a break from comics for about
8 years (mainly due to lack of money and a bad experience with a
person who was getting my comics for me.).  Now I am back.
I re-started with some of the New 52 from DC.

How many comics are in collection approximately?
2652 and growing.

What do you like to collect?
I generally tend to get drawn to comics with great art and at least a good story these days.

Which title/character is most found in your collection?
Legion of the superheroes (although I am not collecting the new series of LOSH)

So how did you start
collecting?    My younger
brother and I read comics all the time in the 60's-70's.
One summer our mom threw our collection away as a
punishment for something we'd done (can't remember what,
I'm still in shock I think).

In the early 90's I tried to
start collecting again, but I was soon turned off by most
of the work being put out by MARVEL. I also didn't like
the way the market was being flooded with million+ print
runs on countless crossovers. It beame boring for me. I
walked away again, but luckily not before buying an X-MEN
#50 from Milehigh comics for  $35. I CGC'd it last year
and it came back a 9.6 OW/W.

A few years ago the collecting
bug bit me again, but this time I'm more focused on what
I collect.

How many comics are in your collection approximately?      2,645
stashed- another 400 +/- $1 books waiting for me to get
bored enough to bother going through them.

What do you like to collect? My friend was one of the
most well known inkers for DC, MARVEL and DELL/GOLDKEY in
the 70's and I'm currently collecting at least 1 copy
of everything he's ever penciled or inked, having
him sign each one. I also collect Golden Age, Silver Age,
Bronze Age superheroes.

Which title/character is most found in your collection? Spider-man

Welcome, Christina :) Let me start by admitting I was trying to figure out your username. I thought it was supposed to be "Christ in a something".

How refreshing to see you like the 'cartoony' characters. I'm very good friends with former long time Disney artist (and Jack Kirby's favorite inker) Mike Royer (my Royer collection can be seen in my 'Public Stash'). I don't know if you're familiar with any
of his Dell/Disney work, but he has a real knack for the style.

Here's some of his art (that I own) for you to enjoy :)

I never filled one of these out

So how did you start collecting?
I've been a life long fan of all things Super Hero since my childhood in the 60's. I didn't really have an extensive collection then, I pretty much read my younger
brother's books (he had many reprints like Marvel Tales and World's Greatest Comics). After I left the military and moved to Oregon I started collecting again,
subscribing to ASM, Wolverine, Thor, and X-Men. I left the hobby again when I grew sick and tired of the "gimmick" era of the 90's. I again returned around
2009, but this time I had the income to finally collect the books from my childhood.

How many comics are in collection approximately?
Somewhere between 3800-4000.

What do you like to collect?
Silver Age and Bronze Age for the most part. Sometimes I'll buy something more recent if my Spidey Sense tingles, telling me that it will be a hot book. It's
served me well quite often. I also collect anything that my friend Mike Royer has worked on, getting him to sign each one. Almost 300 books in that particular
collection. Then there's my Surrounded Cover Theme Collection.

Which title/character is most found in your collection?
Easily Spider-Man, from his "Amazing, Spectacular", and "Web of" titles.

My Public Wish List

Hello everyone,
My name is Gary and I am a recovering addict...of comic books...I had started collecting them back in the 80's after my father passed away and had mostly Captain America, Spider-Man and the Hulk. I had them stored at my mother house while I went into the Army and kept collecting them while I served. I had moved from Washington D.C. and had placed the comics I had in a storage facility provided by the military and then when it was time for me to get out of the Army they did not send my stored items in time to me to have them shipped home. They ended up keeping all of my books. When I got home, I found that the comics I had stored as a kid were destroyed by my little brothers and sister and so I stopped collecting them. My best friend later on gave me several issues and I had put them aside and never touched them after that, but then one day I was going through items to put in a garage sale and found the books...My wife wanted to sell them and I told her I would not since they mean something to me. Later, my wife and I seperated and I happen to be in the local comic shop talking to a couple friends there and they introcuced me to a series that was running (Age of Ultron) They all knew I am a Marvel fan and have always been so suggested I read it. I was hooked and from there it has progressed to Superior Spider-Man and Thor: The Thunder God. I am looking at Indestructable Hulk right now and a few others, but am also wanting to find the rest of the runs that my buddy gave me as well. I have a friend that uses this site and he suggested I look on it and so, here I am. A happy man collecting his favorite heroes and villians again. Thank you for providing us with this great site where geeks can relive the heroes of the past and the heroes of the future!

So how did you start collecting?
Well I got into the comics universe thanks to my dad watching old batman movies/shows and other cartoons based on comic books (awesome
childhood memories). When I was a kid about 11 or 12 I found some old comics in my grandmothers house that belonged to my uncle that had passed
a few years earlier. I read those and was instantly hooked, anytime I had money I would buy a comic or beg my parents to. Then when I got to
college I was able to really start collecting, a tiny dorm room isn't the best environment for a growing comic book collection as my roommate
pointed out.

How many comics are in collection approximately?
...I guess about 800 - 1000. Still updating mystash and always buying comics.

What do you like to collect?
I'm a DC fangirl, the only real marvel things I pick up are Captain America, Luke Cage related issues, and Ironfist issues.

Which title/character is most found in your collection?
Batman (huge fan), Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, Green Lantern, Flash, Luke Cage. But I'm always learning about new characters that I may want to
start reading.

So how did you start collecting?
I became interested in comics due to my father showing me the Tim Burton Batman Movie (still love that movie), after that it was pretty much a plummet into the world of
comics. The first being a superman comic my dad bought me that I've since lost, but I've been buying comics for collecting purposes since my first job in high school (my
parents were not going to support my habit lol)

How many comics are in collection approximately?
About 900

What do you like to collect?
Batman, Iron fist, Luke cage, The Flash, Green Lantern, DC mostly

Which title/character is most found in your collection?
    Batman

I look forward to posting on here.

How did you start?

About 11 years old. Kids at school had comic books and that interested me. I asked my mother to take me to the local, and only, comic shop. She was very apprehensive about letting me get into comics until she picked up a few and realized that there was more well written dialogue than she expected. She wound up encouraging the hobby and would take me to the comic shop every week. This was sometime in 1989.

How many comics in collection?

Getting close to 700 currently...

What do you like to collect?

Wolverine solo runs, Wolverine key issues, X-men key issues and important storylines.

Which title/character most found in collection?

Wolverine solo and X-men comics, plus key bronze and copper age issues that focus on Wolverine and X-men.

I have always been a fan of Archery (Though I haven't
taken it up), and I have always loved Robin Hood which is
a reason why I like him because of his Robin Hood
likeness. His fight for keeping his city clean of crime.
Which is alot like Batman but I just fell in love with
the Green Arrow books fast. I like the mature conflicts
that are placed in the comic that people face today.

I will also add that the story and art is really good.

That what I like about it right now and have gotten out
of the ones I have read.

p.s. I read they are starting up a Green Arrow tv series
so

No way! Based off of Smallville?

No I dont think it is, and they are not using the same
guy either. It is being made by 2 of the guys from the
Green Lantern movie.

So how did you start collecting?
I was at the Flea Market with my brother who was looking
for Star Wars stuff and while he was talking to someone I
wondered into a small comic store. There I found a ton of
50 cent comics that I looked through and picked out some
titles that I heard of before (superman, aquaman). After
awhile I came here where you all gave me some great
advice and I looked for a title that I could start with
and that was of course Green Arrow.

How many comics are in collection approximately?
I have 182 comics as of now.

What do you like to collect?
Right now Green Arrow. But after reading them I have
found some other titles that I am going to start buying
also.

Which title/character is most found in your
collection?

Green Arrow (Oliver Queen)

I've collected comics at various times since I was a kid and recently got back into it in a major way. Recently what got me back into it was a combination of the Arkham-verse Batman games and the launch of New 52. I feel lucky I came back when I did because Marvel and Valiant are doing their own relauches.

I got about 350 books at this writing.

Many different titles make up that 350. I know I got a lot of Action Comics, Superboy (Conner Kent), Nightwing, Deadpool, and Teen Titans.

Since i'm new to the site/forums and came across this
post thought I would follow through :)

So how did you start collecting? As a kid my dad would
buy me a comic book every so often just for fun. When I
hit 6th grade I came across some of those when cleaning
my room and started reading them again. So when I would
be out at the store with my parents I would look at the
magazine racks and began picking up a couple here and
there. At the time the Spider-man series was doing the
whole Ben Reilly clone story with Tom Lyle as artist.
That kinda got me hooked on actually following the
stories. Soon after, my mom surprised me on my b-day by
taking me to the local comic shop and let me pick out
several comics as a b-day gift. While browsing the shop
I learned I could set up a subscription...and the rest,
as they say, is pretty much history.

How many comics are in collection approximately?   At
last count I was about 2200 or so.

What do you like to collect?   Mostly collecting Uncanny
X-men and X-men vol. 2. But I have quite a few Spider-
man issues and other random ones I've picked up over the
years.

Which title/character is most found in your collection?
title would have to be Uncanny X-men. I'm currently
attempting to get the full run, or at least close to it
as possible.

Hi! I'm Sarah and I found this site while I was looking for some way to keep track of all the comics.

How did I start collecting?
Got hooked reading my Dad's old comics and then once I had the money on my own I started buying what I wanted to read and I haven't stopped since.

How many comics are in my collection?
I have 6+ long boxes filled so somewhere in the 1500 range?

What do I collect?
I am kind of all over the place when it comes to what I pick up from Classics to the small independents. Otherwise I am a big fan of a few artists so I try to pick up most of their books.

Which title/character is most found in your collection?
Star Wars, Batman, Buffy, Green Arrow, Fables, Doctor Strange

Hi! Ivo here!

30, separated, father of a 3 year old, Portuguese, zigzagging the thin line between freelance translation services and non-funded unemployment,
lifelong consumer of geek miscellanea, avid collector of comics / music albums / RPG books / videogames / fantasy & sci-fi novels / DVD movies, of
Chaotic Neutral tendencies, scourge of the stereotypical humourless nerd. Not necessarily in that order.

I found this site randomly but it is the best yet for keeping an online comic list. Great job - Clap clap clap!
I'm hoping to use My Stash to trade some of my many unwanted comics for comics I do want, which is pretty expensive in Portugal because there
aren't any nationally published comics anymore. There were hundreds of regular titles in the 80's and 90's, now there's only Disney. So I have to buy
in bulk, to make shipping costs worth it, and often end up with plenty of stuff I don't need.

Although I really enjoy Marvel / DC standard fare, I am wise enough not to chase that dragon... errrr.... by which I mean collect them. The stuff I look
out for is short series and one-shots, anything above the dozen issues or so I prefer in TPB anyway. I also enjoy eurocomics, not all but most. As for
genres, fantasy and sci-fi are personal faves, but I digest very well the occasional dark cynic hero or a certain comedic weirdness. The purely graphical
is not my cuppa, though. I have bought a several hundred strong Image comics collection, only to find out that I plain don't like their derivative thin
plots where eye-candy and fan-service seems to be the single motivation to keep turning pages.

....so that's who. Anyone interested in trading, especially around Europe, hit me up. Cheers!

Hi all!

So how did you start collecting?
I started collecting because I collect books, and that naturally translates into my current obsession: comics.
I just finished graduate school and had a stack of novels I had squirreled away for reading. However, I found my attention span had taken a beating after two full years of academia. What to do, what to do. Enter comics! They are absolutely perfect escapism and the perfect length for those with the attention span of a gnat. That being said, I have plowed through several full volumes to catch up (like many have mentioned, I too cannot just jump in at issue #47, no way).

How many comics are in collection approximately?
Currently, I have about 80-100 in my collection. I am eager to add as I traverse the different genres!

What do you like to collect?
I am not a huge superhero fan. Rather, I find it really daunting to tackle the multiverse of DC or Marvel (right now anyway). So for now, I am really digging the following:
Santiatrium
Sex Criminals
Rat Queens
Pretty Deadly
Clive Barker's Nightbreed
Punisher (all of them)
Incognito
Ms. Marvel
She-Hulk (Ms. Marvel & She-Hulk are my 'superhero' exceptions!)
Painkiller Jane
Red Sonja (by Gail Simone)
Stumptown
Stray Bullets Killers
Wicked + the Divine

Which title/character is most found in your collection?

Probably She-Hulk, but also Punisher

I found my way to this website because I use LibraryThing to organize my books. I thought about using it for my comics, but found this handy website instead. It is nice to meet you all and I look forward to perusing the forums and learning of other cool comics that I just can't live without.

So how did you start collecting?
- Well, to be honest, I never collected comics before. I was yard sale-ing and came across a bin of comics. I figured there may be some good ones in the pile and offered a deal. Now I
am just researching ways to catalogue them and find their worth. I started on a different site but after I got to 50 comics, it wanted me to pay for a subscription. I'm hoping that this
site proves better.

How many comics are in collection approximately?
- About 250

What do you like to collect?
- Nothing specific

Which title/character is most found in your collection?
- Mostly spiderman, she-hulk and punisher

So anything that you guys can do to help me, great. :D

Started collecting when my grandma would take me to antique stores that had a variety of comics, when I was about 9 or
10.

How many comics are in collection approximately?
Right around 300.

What do you like to collect?
I have about an equal mix of Marvel and DC, I try not to discriminate. Some of the current offerings by Dark Horse and
Image are starting to make a mark as well.

Which title/character is most found in your collection?
Character wise Batman. Title wise X-Factor.

So how did you start collecting?
Started collecting when my dad bought me 4 comics Spider-man, Iron Man, and Batman. I flunked the 2nd grade because my family was bilingual and my reading and writing skills didn't measure up. My old man made me read the books then tell him what they were about. It helped and I've been collecting every since.

How many comics are in collection approximately?
Well I never really counted them. I am using stashmycomics.com to record them. I started last week about halfway through my collection and I'm just over 3000.
What do you like to collect?
I like to collect a little of everything I read it on the shelf if it sounds interested or one of my favorite characters I may just by it and not buy for awhile. Does have a tendency to leave holes in my collection.

Which title/character is most found in your collection?
not sure only up to 3000 that's 6 boxes I have about six more. I will update later.
