Read 2020: It makes sense to read Civil War and the corresponding Amazing Spider-Man arc to have context for this story, though SPOILER ALERT there is more or less a recap of Aunt May being fatally wounded in the issue itself as Peter does whatever a Peter can to try to save his aunt, primarily visiting Dr. Strange to see if there's any way he can stop Aunt May from dying, traveling to all mystics for help. Quesada amazingly doesn't overdo it with style on the art, so the visuals make sense while also engaging the reader. The backup piece reprints a bit of Amazing 259, post black costume, offering a glimpse into the importance of Mary Jane in Peter's life, setting the stage for the ending of this storyline and the start of Brand New Day.
