Claremont and McLeod at their best! I was worried picking up in the middle of a multi-title crossover would not engage, but having read Mutant Massacre years ago, visiting this sole issue on its own now provided so much goodness. While the cover dialogue doesn't sound like Colossus, the interior offers wonderful dramatic tension on multiple levels, with many characters showing who they are and what their problems are through both dialogue and action masterfully depicted by the creative team. Being more familiar with the early 1990s renditions of most of these characters, I can see how they followed some of their paths in what feels like organic evolution. Bobby is a fiery asshole. Warlock is evading great fear. Danger is everywhere! Yes!!
