The X-Men fall from one adventure into the next. They arrive in Japan after escaping the Savage land only to see it in flames. The atmosphere in this issue is great. You can really feel the bleakness as the city is struck by disaster. The X-Men meet up with Sunfire who is still a stubborn fool. Even though there is quite some dialog the pacing is very well done. There is also a first appearance of Mariko. There's some action as the X-Men actually manage to win a fight for once. The pencils by Byrne are top notch again. A very enjoyable issue.
