This issue introduces Deathbird who, like most Claremont created villains, will show up a lot in the X-Men comics. She is introduced suddenly as the issue dives right into the action. The fight between Deathbird and Ms. Marvel is good as they are pretty evenly matched and have to resort to measures other than brute force. After that the issue shifts back to Carol Danvers and her editorial problems. It's good to see for the development of Carol as a character. Carol decides to search for the AIM base again, which is beginning to get a bit tedious. But luckily this time something actually happens. The issue ends on a good cliffhanger. The penciler does a good job filling in as I hardly noticed it was a different penciler in this issue.
