Stunning art and story. For someone like me who didn't really know Batwoman Kate Kane before this, this issue gets you interested in a character you hadn't heard of. It was the New 52 Bat book that I was looking the least forward to, but it intrigues from the first page. You immediately get the sense it is unlike all other of the Bat books. Imagine a Batman book that was exclusively of the horror genre.

Williams artwork is one of if not the best at DC right now. It brings you right into the story. Not sure the supernatural element is the right place to start, but it definitely sets it apart from the other bat titles. Great 1st issue!

There was a lot going on here and it all looked great, and it was mostly pretty intriguing. Unlike a lot of the new DC titles, this book didn't try to hold the reader's hand. It just jumped right in and got things moving.

Not knowing what to think about collecting a female superhero, I took a chance on Batwoman, firstly, because I LOVED the artwork. But after reading Batwoman #1, I absolutly loved the story and the character as well!!! I immediatly went out and picked up the prequel, "Batwoman: Elegy", and loved that as well! I now subscribe to Batwoman on a monthly basis! Excellent stuff!
