This has potential. Unfortunately, the limitations of the Marvel Universe (even the sorta-rebooted Marvel Now), and the fallback to cliches keep this from getting me interested enough to want to read any more of it. Full review: http://dailycomicreview.blogspot.com/2013/01/uncanny-avengers-1.html
Solid first issue. Story was a little unexciting, but they are building a foundation. I'm looking forward to future issues.
They state that this is a good jumping on point for new or lapsed readers to come on board the Marvel Universe. You still have to have some knowledge of what took place in AvX. A tiny bit is explained to the readers, and then it's all about what's new. That kind of sucks. I was not impressed with this. Rick Remender's script was average at best for me. Johnb Cassaday's artwork was good, and probably the only saving grace of the issue. I was hoping for better, but got an average story. Ugh.
I've seriously come back to comics after a 15 year hiatus. This was the first thing that I have truly, wholeheartedly disliked. Jumping in as a newbie with a dim memory of the characters, I found all the back-story tedious. The art was static and forgettable. Basically, nothing I saw made me want to buy issue 2. Well, maybe the last page, but it was far too cheesy a premise to invest another 4 bucks. If Marvel Now is trying to capture the excitement of the New 52, this is is a weak start.
