This is an important and we'll executed story arc. Snyder manages to advance the characters while staying true to their psychology. While often gruesome, it is relationships that drive us to the conclusion. Namely that of Batman and Joker (at least how the Joker perceives it) and how the history of this "couple" becomes a wedge driving the Bat-Family apart. In many ways, we should see this schism coming early on in the story but Snyder keeps us involved in the chase in a way that keeps us from looking ahead. Capullo's work, while still showing the influence of Todd McFarlane, has come a long way from his early days of simply being a clone. In many ways, particularly in the areas of anatomy and rendering, he has surpassed McFarlane.
