From the height of my X-mania heydays, reading it 30 years later, after recently being underwhelmed by New Mutants 100... I still found this rather fun & worth holding onto despite its flaws and the Liefeld tropes galore. Is there much substance as a stand alone, probably not, yet I don't quite care because I remember generally what came before & what happens later. It's funny to see Reaper, with his big blade, unable to face another's blade while remaining intact. Somehow, the issue captures some gravitas around the Cable vs. Stryfe thing that'll connect to some X-Factor issues in the coming months. We get some downtime with the team, with Sam, Cable, and Dom, & learn a secret. GW Bridge is introduced--the hunt for Cable/Stryfe continues.
A difficult read that doesn't stand the test of time. Not real pretty to look at either.
