The contents of this story is widely accepted as the origin of Bruce Wayne becoming the Dark Knight as we know him from the Batman mythos. The story is great, fluid from panel-to-panel, page-to-page. Comprised of four issues released from the 80s, Year One is a great read for any reader, from casual comic readers to Batman fanatics.

The quintessential Batman story that helped define the character for the last 25+ years. Mazzuchelli's artistry is masterful, and this is a visual masterpiece. Miller's best Batman (perhaps best super-hero even)story.

A classic. Truly captures the essence of Batman and the feel of Gotham City. Despite any changes to Batman that might come, this book will remain the definitive piece in the Batman canon.
