Larsen's artwork is fun if you don't look too closely; I'm reminding myself this is a book for kids, so me reading this for the first time at age 40 means I'm not the target reader. The cover is fun, with speed lines carrying Spidey bursting into action against a squad of villains holding much-beloved & battered Black Cat in their clutches. Interior scenes where characters are standing around look awkward, but at least the fight scenes are dynamic, even if I don't know or care who these Femme Fatales are--a tribute or knock-off to Kirby's Female Furies without the awesomeness of Kirby himself? They feel sadly apt for this time period in comics. I do love Spidey with the more black and red costume & wish this had stuck more.
