Reading this at age 11 vs age 40 means Michelinie's storytelling is much less engaging--much. Black Cat wants her powers back & Scorpion has been upgraded, both by the Tinkerer. A dead man is supposedly behind the Spider-Slayers randomly attacking Spidey. Revisiting Bagley's art, he's a capable artist, Scorpion looks fun and the action is fair, but it's hard to love this story the way I may have as a kid. The backup, though, written by DeMatties was the best part, connecting Aunt May's past & present to the return of Richard & Mary Parker, an event which asks May to reconcile her relationship to Peter past and present. We even learn about May before Ben Parker was part of her life making this backup worth the price of the issue.
I love the Scorpion.
