This book is one of the reasons I started collecting and continue to collect now. I firmly believe that this book, along with the next 9 volumes that are written by Garth Ennis, are the best portrayal of Frank Castle that have been put in print. The first volume is a tremendous place to start reading about the Punisher if he seems like a character you are interested in and Garth presents him perfectly. Scarred and grizzled and having seen more than his fair share of death already the book sets up what Frank is and what he can do perfectly and it being a MAX title, illustrates his brutality and devastation beautifully, if not graphically. Also a bonus to the book is that it seemingly takes place in regular society and not the super universe.
