Synopsis:  New characters the Melter, Executioner, Enchantress, Egghead, Big Zero, and Coat of Arms bust on the scene claiming to be the Young Avengers.  You will find out quickly that this new group of “heroes” deal a harsher brand of justice then their predecessors.  The first issue explores a tiny bit of what each individual is like, and gives us a glimpse into their issues.  The leader, Melter, appears to have the most good intentions, but shows his inexperience to be very dangerous.  The “real” Young Avengers make an appearance to seemingly confront this new band of Avengers.

Review:  Have to say I was pretty excited for this book, as I really enjoyed the introduction of the Young Avengers a few years ago.  The story telling is similar in that the book explores more “current” world issues.  I would say this book is definitely aimed at the younger audience, but not so much that adults won’t enjoy it.  Cornell has taken the same idea Allan Heinberg used in the original series by connecting the characters to past Marvel characters (in this case villains).  I was not able to find any connections on Big Zero and Coat of Arms, but the rest should either ring a bell with older readers or be easy enough to research if you’re curious.  I thought the art work was pretty outstanding, but think Executioner and Egghead look too similar in appearance (head/mask).  The cover is a reinterpretation of the original series #1.  I look forward to more of the original teams influence in this book!
