Kickstarter Spotlight – Occupy Comics
Nov 11, 2011 by     2 Comments    Posted In: Kickstarter Spotlight

This 30-day Kickstarter effort seeks to raise money for the Occupy Wall Street protesters. This book is intended to be a time capsule of the passions and emotions driving the movement. Inspired by the movement an all-star cast of comics creators have joined to tell the stories of the people who are out there putting themselves at risk for an idea. What is that idea? Most of the media will tell you the idea is a vague and befuddled mess, but movements don’t coalesce around vague, befuddled messes. We hope that through the medium of comics we can share some of the ideas and experiences driving this movement. Watch the pitch video below.

Very interesting. I have been trying to keep up with what is going on with the Occupations. IMO what they started protesting for was great. but over time it seems to have been blurred to many of them. Art can always speak more words them a group of people yelling. Art is not violence nor is it against the law. This seems like a smart idea.

I can see how adding a clearer narrative to the protest could help make it more powerful.
