Sound Familiar? Batman and Spider-Man tv show themes rip-off jazz legend Charles Mingus

Two of the most iconic TV theme songs ever made may have become a lot less impressive considering they were probably lifted from “Shuffle Stop Boogie” off of Charles Mingus’ “Mingus Ah Uhm” album. The similarity is undeniable. Have a listen.

What year did this album come out? On amazon.com, it says 1987, but I’m checking with you first to be sure.

Aside from that, it sounds wonderful! It’s got an absolutely wonderul sound and really gets you snapping your fingers.

Spiderman hadn’t occurred but completely agree about Batman, which is how I found your page after listening to the album again when writing my blog yesterday. I was so struck by the similarity that I googled “mingus batman” and hey presto!
