Marvel Comics – July 2009 – $2.99 – 32 pgs – Color

Writer: Paul Cornell – Art: Leonard Kirk – Cover: Stuart Immonen

Synopsis:  The story continues after Dracula shatters the enchanted skull of Quincy Harker, which now breaks the spell that was keeping the majority of vampires out of Britain.  Dracula begins his invasion of Britain with Spitfire leading the attack against the MI:13 team, and with seemingly deadly results!

Review:  This series has easily become one of my favorite reads due to it’s magical theme, which is not explored a lot in the regular Marvel Universe.  I really liked the Blade/Spitfire relationship, and hope it gets explored a little more later on.  One thing I haven’t liked lately is the sometimes change in Captain Britain’s confidence.  At times he seems to be in control and doing his thing, but then he talks off and on about not knowing anything about his powers, or unsure how certain aspects of his powers work.  I suppose Cornell is attempting to add some depth to the Captain’s character, so we’ll see how this turns out.  I am really excited for the next issue because this issue has such a grim ending!  Artwork has been very consistent on this book, and looks great!  There were some sweet shots of Spitfire with her face basically falling off.
